    From the moment I saw his notebook I knew I had to have it. I also like the Vista operating system which is very like Apple's OSX operating system. I have and eMac and the difference in speed is incredible as I was used to processing a RAW photo file to jpg which took 35 seconds on my eMac but only took 7-8 seconds on the Aspire. I have 2 GB of RAM installed so that might account for the speed but it can be upgraded to 4 GB of RAM but first you have to install Vista 64 bit operating system before the full use of the RAM is utilised. Seems the 32 bit version will only ever recognise up to 3GB of RAM.
    The screen size is a plus for media workers and gamers with the crystalbrite 17 inch screen. The Media Centre, Movie Maker and Photo Gallery software that comes with Vista are the best so far for a PC but can't beat iLife from Apple.
    Playing games is easy and I have found no problems except that older games are not recognised and you have to look for the Program Compatibility Wizard to load the game in the operating system it used before, so you can still use your old games in Vista.
    The DVD re-writer copies data satisfactorily for a laptop and has not failed so far after 8 weeks of useage.
    The underside can get hot but only if you say, leave it on your couch, where it will inevitably heat up a lot.
    It is also a heavy machine to carry but if you are just putting it into your car, then it does the job admirably.
    It could also be a portable type of desktop PC if you are pushed for space as the specs are the same as one.
    I am very inpressed with the Acer Aspire 9303WSMI and recommend it to anyone who wants size, great screen resolution and reliability at an affordable cost. Look at others in this range and add a couple of hundred pounds.

    The first thing to strike you about this machine will be the nice shiny
    lid,It looks strong and firm to protect the screen which is nice and bright, The computer comes with little by the way of software but as this was an upgrade computer it was not a great concern the keyboard is nice and large with key- pad on right hand side. Another pleasent surprise is the graphics which on paper are only medium but the kids are well able to play SH111,Call of Duty and IL2 which is a first rate flight sim.
    The only cons i can tell you are it weighs in at 3.6kg so keep it on a desk rather than your lap
    Well worth a look .

    Hi, i bought this laptop in August last year (2007) and it is fantastic.

    I was looking around for the best laptop i could buy within my budget and this one was the best by far. I have had no problems with the laptop at all.

    I have looked around the internet and found that only a small handfull of people have had a problem with it which was mainly Vista.

    If you buy this laptop i would reccommend buying 1GB RAM extra to put into the spare memory port underneath. This is because Vista is very demanding and more RAM is reccommended to make it faster.

    I bought my laptop from Simply Acer and it was £300 cheaper than Amazon.

    Overall i think this is a great laptop.
