3D: 3 Elements to make it work
There are 3 elements to how the 3D experience is created. Firstly, a special polarizer layer on the LCD panel maps the entire screen, pixel by pixel. This polarisation is then adjusted by the Tri-def 3D-experience software, allowing the user wearing 3D glasses (2 bundled in every box) to seethe 3D image. The left eye of the glasses shows only the even lines of pixels, whilst the right eye of the glasses shows only the odd lines. These images are then combined into one 3D image!

Bought this 3D version because I wanted the 3D as a fun extra gimmick - not as an essential. I recommend others to view it in the same light and consider the cost of the gimmick before buying. The 3D is fun - onboard content comes over really well, translated 2D still picture content merely OK - sometimes works. Be aware, processor power not really enough for games and film conversion from 2D - sacrifices picture quality. 3D content on the web is not turning up as quickly as expected.
Good points: it's a really nice laptop to use. Lovely wide feel-good keyboard with number pad, great screen (gloss finish), solid well-designed case and plenty of connectivity. Very nice on-board sound quality if you plug in decent earphones, with fair bass and clear trebles (NB I am not a hi-fi expert!). This is my second Acer and I like their build quality. HDMI output very handy - I use it for a nice big Acer Ferrari panel (F22). Windows 7 and on-board features appear stable and Acer software nice to use. Huge disk space which is great for media and photography (but laptop screen a bit small for serious photo editing, hence my big screen add-on).
Niggles: the touchpad is awful, awful, awful. I like the gestures idea but the pad has a mind of its own. It's hypersensitive and its software has very limited adjustments. Perhaps a driver update will fix - not yet available. I gave up and use a USB mouse. The wireless adaptor won't operate properly with some older routers - but is stable and fast with newer ones, and signal pickup is excellent.
In all I really enjoy using this laptop and as an add-on the 3D is fun. Massive disk space is great for media and photography and the on board Acer media software supports it very well. NB - mine did not have the pictured biometric print reader but that's not an issue for me anyway. Don't buy if the 3D is highest on your list - there are more powerful ones on the market for this.

For the price this is a bargain as you get a great spec machine with loads of Memory and importantly for games or 3d work a good mid range

Games in 3D work well and I can run FSX ,Avatar, Battle stations Pacific all in 3D at medium settings which is good for this price of laptop. If you did not have the 3d on then you could put the detail settings up to high. When the 3d is off the screen looks like a norma 15" widescreen laptop screen and is bright and colourfull.
The case is a good design with a dark blue top and nicely rounded. Battery life seems ok but will shorten if using the graphics card to full use as in games or 3D.
This is a good all round media laptop with a 3D screen.Good for movies and most games. If you need a laptop and like 3d this is a well priced choice.
