Acer 19 inch Wide 7000:1 5ms 16:10 300cd LCD Monitor

This is a great product: it's compact, has a lovely image, and is a terrific bargain.

Some things to be aware of before you buy, however:

i) When is 19" not 19"?

When it's wide screen. The measurement of screens is made diagonally, so a widescreen monitor will always sound bigger than an ordinary one. My normal shape 19" monitor is 12" high by 15" wide. Although it's 16" wide, the Acer is only 10" high, so effectively, the image is smaller.

ii) Can your PC support 1440 x 900?

Make sure your computer supports a resolution of 1440 x 900. If it doesn't, you'll have a squashed-up image.
This depends on what graphics card is installed, and you'll need to muck about in the settings to find out if it's suitable for the Acer (Google to find out how - or have someone competent do it for you).

If you are OK with these things, it's a great little monitor, and you'll be happy with it.

PS: The description doesn't make it clear, but it comes with a lead. You don't need to buy one separately.

Well I may be a bit unfair here, but I though this monitor would have built in speakers. Having said that, speakers were not mentioned in the Amazon review, so I guess its my fault for not realising. However, there is an optional audio cable available, according to the manual, but nowhere (that I can see) to plug it in, so thats something I don't understand. Regardless of this, the monitor is very good, pleasing appearence, excellent picture, easy to set up, and it comes complete with a power cable and a VGA cable, which is a bonus, as a lot of monitors don't. Regarding the lack of built in speakers, I have set seperate speakers up, which work fine, just means a bit more clutter on the worktop.

Simply unpack, plug in and leave the monitor to search and apply the best settings (aprox 3-4 minutes)The result is amazing.
A crisp clear and almost unbelievable picture, the bonus is the price. I am not given to recommding items lighly, on this occasion I woud Highly Recommend this product and say its a must to buy. Unlike a wide screen on a laptop this monitor displays a full screen photo in perfect proportions.

I am unable to make any comment as regard to its performance playing games as I do not use my computer for this purpose.
