This was my first murder mystery, and it was really great.
Everyone had a lot of fun dressing up and really getting into the different parts, especially with the pirate theme!
It didn't matter that we were playing with a mix of people who hadn't really met before, because it really encourages everyone to talk to each other and you have something to talk about.
What I didn't really like is that you don't get to know all the important information about your character before you start.
Without trying to give anything away the first I knew about a fairly major point about my character was when another player told everyone they knew all about it. As I've said, I've never really played a murder mystery before, but it makes it a little hard to add lib, or even work things out when your story keeps changing. You only find out if your the murderer or not fairly late into the game.
The minor reveals were all sort of a different difficulty to work out, some were pretty obvious and quite a few were a bit harder (well at least I didn't get them), and likewise I believe the murderer can be worked out if you're paying attention but it's not obvious.
The game suggested it worked well played between each course of a three course meal (which it did) and contains quite a lot of innuendo's (Along the lines of 'why Tia, those are some pretty big jugs you've got there, would you like a hand with them?' sort of thing) but nothing really bad or anything. It's written for 4/5 guys and 4/5 girls.
Overall I would recommend this as a great idea for a party, we had a lot of laughs and I would definitely do one of these again.
