This is a very useful charger ... not just another gadget.
It's simple enough to use --
When you switch on, the default mode is "CHARGE".
Simply press the "current" button to select an appropriate charging-current. To minimise charging time, I always select 700mA.
The charger switches each cell off individually when charging is complete.
Most important for me, this charger has a "TEST" mode, to do a health-check on each NiMH cell --
Press the "mode" button to select the "TEST" mode at switch-on.
It fully charges the cells, then discharges each cell individually, to measure its capacity in mA-hrs.
I now do this every few weeks, to ensure that my NiMH cells are healthy, and not about to die on me at a critical moment.
Finally, this charger has a "REFRESH" mode --
NiMH cells which have been put through a poor charging regime can suffer from "voltage depression". The equipment using such a cell will indicate "low-battery" much sooner than expected. You might simply dispose of the cell at that point, thinking it has reached the end of its life.
However, a cell with voltage-depression can be revived, by fully discharging and then recharging a battery several times. This charger can do so automatically --
Press the "mode" button to select the "REFRESH" mode at switch-on.
I find it takes anything up to 48hrs to revive a high capacity cell.
You don't need to dispose of a cell unless it shows low capacity at the end of the "REFRESH" cycle.
I have revived 4 dubious cells since I bought this charger ... a saving of £10 already !!
