I have to admit that this is probably one of the best clocks I've had in a long time. If like me, you wake up a few times every night and want to check what the time is- this clock is perfect. With large enough display and amazing backlit, it is very easy to see time. Also the backlit is not overlit so the clock doesnt have any glare which may interrupt your sleep.

Go ahead and buy this!

I chose this clock because I needed to see the time in the dark without putting on my glasses! It's exactly what I wanted and looks good too. The light is very subdued and doesn't annoy my husband who likes the room very dark. Haven't used the alarm but everything else works fine.

This unit has a built in stand and clearly shows the current time [hour:min sec], date [Day/Month as numbers] and day [as 2 letters e.g. SU, MO, TU etc] as well as moon and temp [to 0.1 degrees]

The unit can also set it's time from radio signal i.e. will auto set itself when the clocks change to/from summer time. Will show a radio symbol on top right of display when this is working - to manually force a time check, hold down the wave/snooze button on back for a couple of secs and radio symbol will flash [handy when moving unit to check it still gets the signal]

The unit itself is large 170mm x 270mm [h x w] but the unit uses a not unattractive 2 colour [off white & grey] which sort of hides this - the screen itself is 90mm x 170mm [h x w]. The hour:minute are a large 55mm with the other figures being 20mm tall. Screen viewing angles from below and sides are good but from above is pretty poor [anything from above straight on starts to lose quality] - has sensor that enables the blue backlight automatically at night

Unit can display temp in C/F, has alarm, hows moon state and can be set to get the time signal from UK or CET [the display shows 'F'oreign!] - all controlled by 6 buttons and 2 switches on back]. The unit seemed to consistently show a temp about 0.8C above other temperature sensors I have

Tip: Unit initially shows time in 12 hour [am/pm] format with no obvious way to change it to 24hour - to do this, then manually set the time [it asks you 12/24] but it will still then pick up the radio time signal [press snooze button for 3 secs]

Overall, physically a bit large with poor viewing angle from above, but everything else is pretty good

I wanted a clock to use in my caravan so therefore it must be illuminated for night time use.
This clock does it automatically at dusk.
It keeps perfect time because it is set by radio control and is accurate to the second.
I put it on the wall initially waiting for it to go in the caravan.
Loved it so much I bought another for the caravan and left it in place on the wall.
It is so good to have one clock that keeps perfect time to set all the other clocks with.
The price I paid was far better than anywhere else. Super value.

I have now lived with this clock for about three months on my bedside unit and have nothing but praise for the size of the figures and softness of the light. This light is better than some other bedside clocks that have buttons that need pressing in order to illuminate the screen or the sometimes rather savage clock/alarm/radios that burn retinas with their glare. I haven't tried the alarms as I am retired now and speaking as a fully paid up member of the Lazy B......s Association I don't need to get up for work anymore - thank the gods of Olympus. The way this light switches on automatically is a real boon and I can read the time without squinting, fiddling about with buttons, knocking the thing off the table etc&c.

The temperature is very useful but I'm not quite sure about the moon phases unless the manufacturer is trying to tell me something.

The batteries are quoted as lasting for ten months based on a eight hour daily illumnation period so I can only say that this has not been tested yet by me.

I got this for my Dad (81) who has problems keeping track of time since he was involved in a car accident. The time is nice and clear, and it changes to BST/GMT automatically, which is a great help. It would be better for him if the day of the week was more than 2 letters eg. SUN or SUNDAY rather than SU. If a bit more space was used for the day of the week and the phase of the moon or the temperature omitted (I've covered these up with paper because they just confuse him) the clock would be perfect. I knew this when I bought the clock, so it isn't a complaint, I just wish someone made a nice clear clock for those with short term memory loss or cognitive problems. I've given it 5 stars because it does what it says on the tin very well.
