I bought this clock on the basis of the good reviews when my previous alarm became unreliable. It was 20 years old, had dual alarms and woke me up with a gentle noise. It was the perfect clock. Unfortunately, that model is no longer made and I chose this as the next best.

The clock had a much cheaper feel to it than my old one and the buttons felt clunky in use. In use I was disappointed that there was no way to turn the alarm off and have it automatically reset for the next day, which meant getting into the routine of resetting the alarm at bedtime and the alarm noise is very loud and irritating. Maybe others will think that is a good feature, but I prefer to be woken up more gently.

At less than 3 months old the alarm function has failed on 3 occasions because it randomly resets to 12:00. If this happens before 12:00 it means an unexpected wake up alarm at midnight, if it happens after 12:00 it means the alarm does not go off in the morning and I am late for work.

    Would not recommend.

I have several of these around the house as they all give the same time being radio controlled and a ready check on room temperature, which can be handy with a young child about; their big display means you can typically read them from anywhere in the room.

I hate work. I absolutely loathe that feeling of dragging myself out of bed furry-mouthed in the morning to following the ablution routine of bog, teeth brush, bath then dry, dress in the black kit, brush hair and moisturise (the latter not this side of an ice age I can assure you). A mug of tea, two weetabix with a handful of granola and semi skimmed milk, read my emails on the iPad, check my tweets, take a handful of pills and inhalers to keep me going before the trudge to the bus stop, probably in the rain, most certainly in the wind. The bus is crammed with sweaty miserable looking souls all heading for another day in their own labour camps. The overheated bus bounces and grinds its way along the sweeping roads and I inevitably feel nauseous from the heat and too many pickled onions the night before.

This alarm clock has woken me on time, every time with unceasing reliability and I hate it. Even if I ignore it completely the clock reminds me of my responsibilities five minutes later. Snooze it and the story is the same; five minutes of sleeping bliss followed by its insistent chirruping When I retire I will take a hammer to it; loathsome article.

A well designed clock that is easy to set up and use. It picked up the signal within a few minutes. This clock has all the controls on either side of the base so no need to turn it around and fiddle about trying to turn the Alarm off.

We now have 5 radio-controlled clocks in our house, and this is the only one that has had problems acquiring a signal. The instructions include numerous tips on solving problems with the signal, so it's clearly not a one-off issue. After first inserting the batteries, during the daytime, I had to experiment with all kinds of locations around the house and to turn the clock in the direction of the radio source in order to pick up a signal. Having once got the signal, I've found that I can move the clock to the spot that I really want and it will manage to keep itself updated during the nighttime. According to the instructions it is normal for these clocks to find a signal more easily at night due to lower interference.

Otherwise the clock is quite nice. The backlight for the display is good and the alarm sound is quite loud without being punishing. Setting the alarm is very easy, as is switching between 12 and 24-hour mode and between Fahrenheit and Centigrade temperatures.

Small and functional, shows time, date and temperature. I gave it 4 stars as the light only comes on when you press the button, unlike my other radio controlled clock, the Acctim Stratus Smartlite Wall/Desk Clock.

Lovely looking clock, slightly irritating tone (but I suppose that's the idea) and seemed to work well for a couple of months. Then it started to reset itself erratically, which would have been fine but the alarm resets too - for midnight! Not great if you fall asleep at 11pm and a disaster if you rely on it (as is usual) to wake you in the morning.
Then - eureka! It's the mobile phone! I'm sure someone else has worked this out but judging by other posts here and a lack of any reference via Google it isn't common knowledge.
I suspect that many people have their mobiles next to them at bed. I only occasionally do this, hence the lag between purchase and the apparent malfunction.
I now keep the alarm on the other bedside table when I need the phone or, more usually switch it off altogether. It looks like it only scrambles the clock when close together. So far, so good.

I bought this based on reviews by other Amazonians and am not disappointed. This clock is very sturdy and the display is easy to read at all angles. The radio controlled function ensures pinpoint accuracy and, as the previous reviewer said, it is very handy to have controls on either side of the clock.

Although I usually prefer a mains operated clock, I am very satisfied with this little item and it was a very good price too. Very good if you have dexterity problems, by the way, as the buttons are a good size.
