Book Description

1 May 2009
The Outcasts CC always set off to their matches with the best intentions (so they say) - so why do their matches always bring the game into such disrepute? Now the mayhem goes global. From small town Australia to a country house somewhere in Hertfordshire, cricket's most notorious club becomes ever more entangled with the most deplorable behaviour. In "Accidentally Cricket", village cricket meets the world of celebrity - supposedly. The result is neither pretty nor excusable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sir Alan steps up to the crease 1 Jun 2009
By E. Watt
Format:Hardcover
Having read Occasionally Cricket, Eventually Cricket and Incidentally Cricket, I was pleased to hear that Sir Alan's latest book, Accidentally Cricket, had finally landed. I am delighted to say that Sir Alan really has hit a six with his latest book, proving that he's more than capable of an agriculture shot.

The book contains thrills and humour, demonstrating that Sir Alan truly is an all rounder.

One can only wonder what shenanigans The Outcasts CC will get up to next?!

5.0 out of 5 stars Accidentally Cricket 5 July 2009
Format:Hardcover
Sir Alan has the ability to make you feel as if you are in the middle of the action, whether it is on the cricket pitch, the refreshment tent or elsewhere!

I can't wait to discover what happens in the next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Tom Sharpe 1 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book seems to be an attempt to make a Tom Sharpe-like hilarious disaster out of a cricket match, which doesn't really work. It is funny to an extent, but not very. The ingredients are there - a country-house cricket match, with a burglar afoot, sex in the ambulance van, fancy dress, mistaken identities.... But it never really comes together into the savage denouement of a Tom Sharpe farce. Although it is about amateur cricket, that does not excuse some of the amateur touches, for example the names of individuals and renaming of St John's Ambulance. It is worth reading, but will be quickly forgotten.
