Review

I warmly recommend this book for the senior house officer's pockets, as well as for the bookshelves of Accident & Emergency departments. -- Journal of the Royal College of Physicians of Lond Its small size, quality binding, excellent index and well laid-out content will appeal to its target - residents, interns and senior medical students."" -- Emergency Medicine A reliable small text such as this can provide reassurance in moments of uncertainty. In summary, this book can be recommended to junior doctors as a concise and practical guide to the work of an A&E department. -- Journal of Accident and Emergency The book is comprehensive and concise. The section on adminstrative and legal considerations is excellent. All junior doctors should read this chapter before starting work in an Accident and Emergency (A&E) department. -- British Journal of Anaesthesia. I find this book a reliable text and will be of enormous help to junior doctors practising accident and emergency medicine for the first time. It is a concise and practical guide. -- Postgraduate Medical Journal 20030124 Brown's book should be an essential part of the A&E 'shop-floor' library. -- Hospital Medicine 20030608 --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I used this book almost every day of a six month junior doctor rotation in A+E. Its great advantage compared to other similar books is that its advice is very practical. It doesn't give you ten options for each clinical scenario, but one reliable and safe one.

It's good enough that I had to stick " I belong to..." stickers on the front and back because it kept wandering off in other doctors' hands when I turned my back for more than a few seconds.

I recommend this book to any of my medical and nursing friends who are about to do A+E.

Just Right! 7 Dec 2003

Format:Paperback
This has been an invaluable source to me as a nurse and good bedtime reading!
It covers everything from the minor to the majors with not too little or not too much information and is clear to read, well recommended for any medical practitioner.
