Very good for the adult market, and website.

Course was over subscribed but did at least discover it was based around the content of this book.
Originally purchased the kit with the audio CD, which is essential if you will be self studying, I bought a second copy of the book to keep at work to read during lunchtimes.
Lessons are broken down into 2 or 3 page exercises, and cover the language and Spanish life, culture and occasions.
Its fairly classic school language text book stuff, so don't expect and revolutionary learning methods being employed. However I find the short 2 or 3 page chunks perfect - and with the exercises can be completed in 20 mins or so.
I read all the reviews of this book before I bought it as there was a lot of confusion about whether the Cds were included or not.
Needless to say you have to make sure you are buying the Cds as well because otherwise it is useless without them There is also a little answer book that comes with the pack which again is very useful. I did not realise what the answer book was until the teacher pointed it out
The positive side is that is does build your knowledge of Spanish and has a lot of revision. You do however need to do it alongside the Cd and the answer book. I am following the course in an evening class with an excellent Spanish teacher (she is in fact from Columbia) who takes us through the exercises. This is the recommended text
I realise that these days publishers assume we cannot read great wads of text so the book is broken up a lot with various pictures side bars etc. It makes is easy to read but not always easy to find things that you want. It can be distracting as here is so much of it. Also the numbers of the tracks on the Cds are not put in the text so I have to cast around to find it which is annoying.
I try each week because it is relatively easy to do to go through the book by just reading so that I reinforce all the vocabulary before each week's new lesson.
Fortunately I am going to classes as I am not bright enough to learn a language from a book or via CDs or DVDs. I also look at a lot of other material on the internet
As an aside the best our The Spanish Blog and LA Vida Loca which is on the BBC website. Also there are loads or word quizzes on the internet.Read more ›
