This is the story of how Coronation Street is made. It is not a profile of the soaps' stars, nor a spin-off product relating to a storyline; these things have been done before and do not need repeating. Instead, the show's producer David Hanson has chosen to take the reader on a Coronation Street tour of his own--one which takes in script meetings and editing suites, and drops by the wardrobe department, dressed sets and green room on its way.

WHAT A TREAT - oh the thrill of finding out what happens in the green room, pick up the gossip and learn what the cast have in their dressing rooms and how they try to guard their privacy from press and over zealous fans.It is a chance to see what the Street really does look like and see what is actually contained within the houses. This and lots more insider information and the absolutely spectacular black and white photographs makes Coronation Street Access All Areas a must for fans of this fabulous soap.

This is a stunning book for Street fans - the black and white photography, all shot documentary style, is beautiful and highly effective. It makes a welcome change from the posed portrait shots of actors we're used to seeing. I loved all the snippets of information in this book - finding out how the Street ticks, and how all the backroom personnel fit in. Best of all was discovering that Michael Le Vell (Kevin Webster)has had the same leather jacket since he joined the soap more than ten years ago!
