Brought us Papua New Giunea, but little else
on 8 August 2002
I bought this album on the strength of the track featured on the second disk Papua New Giunea, which is truely tremendous, it has stood the test of time better than almost any track from that era, and is still for me a pinnacle in electronic music. However, i found the rest of the album to be average to poor, and at times truely awfull. Some of the tracks, showed FSOL at their most pretentious, and frankly poorest. The sort of tired industrial sounding techno which holds little for home-listening, for me anyway. Also the general production is certainly starting to show it's age. The bonus CD is not really worth the money either, although there are some decent mixes, you can't help feeling that none of them really touch the brilliance of the original.
