Product Description

This is the latest generation of Capacitive styli, with a thinner frame, longer length and finer tip.

Especially designed with those that write by hand or draw with their device, it is also equally at home in standard use scrolling selecting etc. Its 6mm tapered tip and soft rubber allows for never before found accuracy with capacitive screens.

If you have been disappointed before with the lack of accuracy and control you have with stylus pens then welcome to the next generation this will not let you down.

Cheaper than a Bamboo! 11 July 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I was looking for a stylus for drawing. I tried the Dagi but could not get on with the angle you have to keep it at. I was also worried that it being hard might damage the screen over time. So I looked elsewhere. I saw the Wacom Bamboo come out. It looks great. Smaller tip than most other pens. Looked like a proper pen to hold. But then I saw the price! Gulp! Luckily someone pointed out the Acase Freehand. It too has a smaller rubber tip that looks similar to the Wacom. It also was long enough to hold comfortably. But then I saw the price! Really? That cheap? It has to be rubbish right? I ordered one anyhow. If it's that cheap it's worth a shot I thought.
I am happily surprised to report that this is a GREAT pen! It may not have the weight that the Bamboo has (Not tried Bamboo so cannot comment) but it does sit the length of the hand and the tip is small enough to do some fine detail work in drawing apps (I use Sketchbook Mobile on Android). You have to apply a little pressure to get a good line. Also it is not so great for putting the dots on the top of 'i's. But otherwise it's pretty solid. In fact it may just be my Asus Transformer is the issue with sensitivity rather than the pen. Perhaps it would perform even better on iPads and other tablets. The headphone thing is a nice touch. Like another user said it is too tight. Initially that is. Push it in and take it out a couple of times and it loosens off. Hopefully not too much that it falls out over time (If it does I will update the review). All in all a great pen for those who don't like fat rubber nibs. Highly recommended at this price!

A very good Stylus Pen with only one flaw...... and with that I'm not sure the flaw is actually the fault of the Stylus but I'm going to say it regardless:- Slight on-screen hesitation which I will explain in detail below:

I was looking for a Stylus to be used for drawing on my Android Asus Eee Transformer Tablet.
A lot of Stylus pens either had too much a large nib or they did not move smoothly enough over the glass screen.

After reading many reviews I came to the conclusion the Acase Freehand Fine Art would fit the job.

Positives:
Thinner nib when compared to others ~ This makes it ideal for drawing.
Good rubber nib ~ Glides the surface 'relatively' well (with one caveat - see below), and much much better than several others I have tried.

Negatives:
Just the one and here's the reason to the opening comment ~ The flaw I found is when you use your 'finger' to draw a line, the line is smooth and straight. However, pick up the pen and draw the same line and you can easily see the line is wavy. In other words the Acase doesn't register lines as smooth as a finger; which in turn if you want graceful flowing lines you won't find it here.

Other comments:
For hand-writing you do have to apply a little extra pressure otherwise it does not register on the screen.
With a smaller than normal nib it makes selecting smaller items on screen easier.

Conclusion:
Am I happy with the purchase ~ Yes
Would I recommend it ~ Yes
Could I suggest an improvement ~ Yes. Make the nib a harder rubber that does not give like a deflated tyre when you apply pressure on screen.

Waste of money 27 Jan 2012
By Mike
I bought this stylus for the smaller tip. I have another stylus with a larger tip but find it difficult to see what I a, doing some times. This sylus does not read very well on my iPad. Often it is not picked up right away and leaves me with half written letters and words. Don't waste your money get the one with the bigger tip. I am now back to using my other stylus.
