Product Description

Product Description

Emily Miller knew her life was about to change forever the day her mother said, "I'm pregnant." She'd hear those words again and again--and with every pregnancy Emily's father changed from bad to worse. For years the Miller family suffered through his rages. It took a terrible loss for the family to regroup, and all the love Emily can muster to save her siblings.

Bartlett's powerful short story, "Abused: A Daughter’s Story," grabs hold immediately and doesn't let go. This heart-tugger's hero, Emily, displays amazing resilience and strength. I know I'll remember this story for a long, long time.

Disappointing 24 Feb 2011

I was very disappointed with this book. It started off well but very quickly became boring and when I came to the end I was left feeling, "Is that it?!" I only paid 49p for it so I didn't waste a lot of money but I would have been most upset if I had spent much more on it. As it is, I wish I'd spent my money on a chocolate bar!

buy a paper instead 6 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
ok its cheap at only 50 pence but dont bother buying it as it takes only 10 minutes to read and there is no real story line. i was waiting for it evolve into a story and then it ended ............ i suggest you buy a paper intstead and read that because it would be better value for your money and time

Unlike the previous reviewers I liked this story. It tells of the horrors of children living in an abusive home environment. How often these days do we read in newspapers or see on the television news of domestic violence which has gone either unnoticed or ignored by family and neighbours, coming to light only when a death occurs either of a child or the abused parent.

The terror of the children the mother and the subsequent outcome were portrayed very strongly as did the bullying of the father. Tales of this type are important in as much as the reader is made more aware of the consequences of such alien behaviour and less likely to ignore a family or friend in this situation.

L L Bartlett never backs away from difficult issues, making you think about what you have read, long after putting the book down.
