In 1946, Henry Abtey and his wife founded their chocolate factory in a small shop near Alsace in France. They could never have imagined what their company would grow into, now boasting state of the art facilities and employing up to 200 people. Their original entrepreneurial skills and a love of chocolate have led to our current annual production of 1,300 tons, which is distributed in more than 35 countries in the world. The company has passed down through 3 generations of the family and today it is managed by Anne-Catherine Roedel, Henry's and Amélie's granddaughter. Our amassed expertise has transformed the company into a specialist in delicious liqueur-filled chocolates without a Sugar crust and we are now acknowledged for our quality and creativity. We constantly strive to formulate new recipes and designs to keep our wide range of customers satisfied. In 1961, the development of ABTEY consisted in the production of liqueur-filled chocolates without Sugar crust. This is the reason for our fame, and it attests our knowledge and will to produce high-quality chocolates.
