Product Description

They’re back – and behaving as outrageously as ever! 20 years after Eddy, Patsy, Saffy, Bubble and Mother first staggered into our lives, they return for three fantastic episodes! Patsy might be hiding a few more wrinkles, Eddy’s designer outfits are a size (or three) bigger, but the ageing fashionistas have lost none of their appetite for living it large, regardless of how ridiculous they look!

In these hysterical episodes, Saffy’s new best friend forces Patsy to finally reveal her age – to the nearest decade or two; Eddy signs up a legendary French actress for an Albert Hall performance, but can she sing? And, as London goes Olympics mad, someone rather important (Hollywood, darling) rents the house as the ladies undertake some gold medal schmoozing.

Guest starring; STELLA MCCARTNEY, EMMA BUNTON, LULU, LINDSAY DUNCAN, MO GAFFNEY AND LUCY MONTGOMERY

Special Features
Absolutely Fabulous Sport Relief Special--A unique special featuring some truly fabulous guest stars including Kate Moss, Stella McCartney, David Gandy, Linford Christie and Colin Jackson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still fabulous darlings, never fear! 25 July 2012
Format:DVD
Its been seven years since we last saw these fun loving fashionistas and within that time a LOT has changed. I won't give too much away as that would spoil purchasing the DVD, but I will say that when I saw all three episodes air on television, they made me laugh out loud at the sheer pantomine antics of the whole gang! Yes, Abfab is 20 years old - and what annoyed me is that the critics failed to see on the last episode Olympics, that this is in fact a reality for the characters. Eddy's permanant struggle with her age and spirit, Saffy's reluctant acceptance of her past and trying to contemplate a future for her and her daughter Jane (Lola) who's now seven years old, and Patsy - who has had to deal with not only her incredible age being revealed but also issues that some, not all, women of her age have to deal with!! Throughout all, for me each episode stands on it's own with it's own merit and could have easily been straight from a previous series, which surely is a good thing? I love Abfab. It reminds me of a time when comedy did'nt have to rely on 'reality style camera filming', where an audience is present and it follows a format that I and the 7+million viewers clearly enjoyed. Jennifer has never relied on critical observation, she's been true to herself and the fans by writing Abfab at 20 at its most racous, entertaining best. BRING ON THE MOVIE IN 2013!!

It's very welcome to have more episodes from Jennifer Saunders, as AbFab celebrates its 20th anniversary as one of the very best sitcoms ever.

The three shows included on this dvd are for the most part peppered with good gags and many laugh out loud moments, but they fall quite far short of being anything like 'classic' episodes. Saunders continues to shine as Edina, but from time to time Joanna Lumley is helpless to stop Patsy becoming a caricature of her past self (if that is possible for such an extreme and physical character), with some scenery chewing that is a little bit cringe worthy. Similarly, Julia Sawahla and June Whitfield have reached the end point for their characters and are left to merely look cartoonishly exasperated or dizzy by turns, and the net result is ultimately a show which is now slightly creaking at the seams, even if it still manages to satisfy quite a few of its diehard fans.

But the real low point is the extras - the sport relief 'special' is unbearably awful, with the lack of canned laughter exposing the desperately hollow attempts at humour, with b list 'celebs' looking awkward and embarrassed as their total lack of any acting or comedy talent is laid painfully bare. This was one AbFab to which Saunders really should have said 'no'!!

All in all, this dvd won't win the show any new fans, but it will keep its legion of admirers fairly happy for the time being. In the end though, you are left longing for the classic episodes of the 90s.

5.0 out of 5 stars The title says it all 15 April 2013

Absolutely Fabulous.

Funny as it is I wouldn't advise trying to watch one Episode after another as even the best can begin to grate - especially with such 'self-involved' characters, but watching a couple of Episodes and taking a break will remind you just how good it was and remains.

Saunders shows that British comedy can still rival the best of American.
