Forget the Unidisc Reissues, this the BEST Prelude Compilation ever, 8 Jan 2009

Just like the previous reviewer wrote. If you see it, buy it at any cost. I was lucky, I won this in an auction on eBay a few days ago. Cost $25 dollars. WHAT A BARGIN!!!!!.... Anyway, this 97 issue by DEEPBEATS, incidentally went of of print (as most boxed sets do) as soon as it was released is the rarest and most complete collection of Prelude 12" classics available. I'm not sure what a lucky seller would list this for now, but expect to see a price somewhere in the region of $300 - $500. In todays music world of mind boogling mediocrity, classic gems like these come at a high price. So be lucky or settle for the more inferior Unidisc reissues.

This is absolutly the most definitive collection of Prelude classics ever assembled. It was stolen from me and I wish I could find this collection again. I think I saw it one time listed used for $150. I wouldnt pay that much. Maybe $40. But its great none the less.

This compilation, released by Deep Beats (a UK outfit) for what seemed like a week back in 1997, is to date the definitive package of Prelude releases (entirely 12" singles originally). I was fortunate enough to obtain a new copy at Gramaphone Records of Lincoln Park in Chicago when it was released. I won't disclose what I paid at the time, as it's not relevant. Let's just say you won't find it for that price now. It is amongst the few CD's of my collection I absolutely would not part with at any price. If you're a serious (and I do mean, serious) fan of the Prelude output, I suggest you plunk down whatever ridiculous price any merchant is willing to ask for this comp. Besides, you're gonna spend much more trying to track these selctions down in other forms (of particular note, the Unidisc reissues in their various packages). I won't bore you with track info (however, if you must know this, visit discogs.com for complete title/artist info), but if you love anything on Prelude, this is the must-have for you. This comp has literally no artist/release/chart data, but as I've said before, if you wanna read - buy a book! This is the real deal. Don't sleep on it.
