Product Description

The murder was so appalling even a hardened agent like FBI medical examiner Dr. Jessica Coran was shocked--the spinal cord had been literally ripped from the woman's back.

Ghastly as it was, it wasn't unique. A man had already been convicted of killing his wife in the exact same fashion. Is the doomed death-row prisoner innocent?

There's only one thing for Jessica to do: Find the real killer.

That means following a gruesome trail of carnage, victim by victim, straight into the absolute darkness of a madman's inescapable fantasies. Watch your back, Jessica...

(This book is eleventh in Robert W. Walker's Instinct series. It was originally published in paperback. Also includes and excerpt from Dead On by Robert W. Walker, and Shot of Tequila by J.A. Konrath.)

absolute instinct 4 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have bought most of his books and read about half, they are definately worth reading.
Very similar to Karin Slaughter and Tess Gerritson.
They are full of action and difficult to put down

Author Ken Bruen has praised Robert Walker's Instinct books without reservation, as well as award winning author David Ellis. Jay Boninsinga wrote in his review of Walker;s City for Ransom that "its a brillian mix of Conan Doyle, Erik Larson, and Wes Craven." So much hype on the opening pages of that Walker title, I was sure I would find fault with Walker's 1893 gaslight suspense novel, as I am a huge fan of his instinct and edge series of books -- modern forensics novels. And I went in to City for Ransom expecting to dislike his turnabout, going to another century of detection. I cam away absolutey thrilled, and then I read Absolute Instinct, back in this century. How an author can write so convincingly in two centuries, in two categories, I can't begin to fathom, yet Mr. Walker does it both and he does it with panache and authenticity. Cheers. Absolute Instinct --This one-- is as Ken Bruen says of City for Ransom: "One to Ransom your soul for."
