Format:DVD
I have to agree with the author of the "Absolute Turkey" review of this film. I spent a while wondering if the film is so bad, it's good -- but eventually ending up thinking it's just plain bad. It does have one or two moments though. If you want an impression of what it might have been like to be a teenager in 1950s London (the decade which invented teenagers), the Colin MacInnes novel is much better.

A thoroughly enjoyable film, Bowie is on TOP form. As a fan, I didn't think there was anything better than his fine performance in Labyrinth, but among the other cast members, he outshines everyone!
A perfect copy and an amazing quality, I may have seen it before, but now I can watch it over and over again, listening to the classic soundtrack!

I think this film is worth cult status. On the one hand it is quite awful but is also quite watchable. For me it does really conjure up those days of 'never had it so good' though it is also pretty overdone. I still have a copy of a the VHS tape that was given away as a freeby on something or the other and the sound quality even on my copy is still remarkable - much better on this digital capture, unfortunately.
If you were in Soho when Carnaby Street was in its infancy, this will rewaken old memories: if you were too young but are a fan of the Beatles, this will give you a taste of the climate and background against which they came to stardom.

absolute beginners
absolutely delighted with dvd. Even though it is a foreign import, it arrived very quickly and is perfect. Great fun. Would order from supplier again.
