I was recommended Absent Fathers by a female friend who was so upset by it she couldn't sleep. Having read it, I see what she means - this story of a young Londoner driven to murder his brain-damaged niece is at once violent, spiritual and sinisterly erotic. Superb - if you like that sort of thing.
