If you are thinking of taking up the acoustic guitar I highly recommend this book.
This book is clean and easy to understand and introduces you into playing the guitar quickly, also it helps you understand the basics of timing and reading music as you go and most importantly its fun. The songs may be quite old folk/childrens songs but due to there simplicity they suit the beginer perfectly. I love the look of this book and the retro drawings. This book was first published in 1980 and I brought my copy second hand I was amazed to see it still in print, which really shows that it does a great job. Buy it!

I first used this book many years ago when looking after toddlers. My guitar skills were basic but the book enabled me to play for the children.They love to hear these songs.
The format of the book is clear and easy to follow for adults or for children who are learning the guitar. The choice of songs are also ideal for adults who want to sing songs for children, or who want to teach children some very popular childrens songs.
When I was looking for this book on-line, I couldn't remember what songs were included... here are sometitles to give you an idea of what the book contains.....
Ten in the Bed, Yellow Submarine, If you're happy and you know it, Clementine, She'll be coming round the mountain, Lily the Pink, This old man, Sing a rainbow, Michael row the boat ashore, The runaway train, The animals went in two by two, Island in the sun, and many more

I teach guitar to children aged 8+ and this is a fantastic book. Alot of the songs are already familiar to children and all the lyrics as suitable for children.

The book progresses gradually through the common open position chords (major, minor, sevenths).

Some of the fingerstyle might be a bit advanced for young learners but for easy to follow songs for young children, this book takes some beating.
