Product Description

The complete first series of Lynda La Plante's crime drama following a team of detectives trying to stop a serial killer. Newly qualified DC Anna Travis (Kelly Reilly) joins a team on the hunt for a particularly gruesome killer who, over an eight-year period, has murdered six people, mainly prostitutes. But when the latest victim is found, and doesn't fit the usual profile, DC Travis sets out to prove herself, even if that means becoming very personally involved.

I had already read the book before seeing this TV drama, but despite knowing the plot, this production had me gripped. Outstanding performance by Jason Durr - definitely not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mesmerising performances... 7 Mar 2010
Format:DVD
Think is an incredable story and the acting is second to none. Full on from the beginning, very realistic in the police work and forensics etc. But the real scene stealer is the character played by Jason Durr. As the story unfolds this actor, his success and the past he so wanted to erase from his mind. The mesmerising character change as he is finally confronted and spits his rage and contempt for these uncaring women in his childhood. If you like a real edge of the seat, gritty crime story, look no further. Excellent.

And outstanding TV drama. Stunning performances by Kelly Reilly and Ciaran Hinds. Well worth watching. And the follow up - Red Dahlia is equally as good. Get the whole lot in one go, you wont regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent cop thriller with great actors 24 Dec 2011
By Maria2222 TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
"DC Anna Travis (Kelly Reilly) has been assigned to her first murder case. Under the watchful eye of DCI James Langton (Ciarán Hinds), she joins a team investigating a series of brutal and shocking murders.

They started eight years ago, and the body count - all prostitutes and drug users - was up to six, but now a seventh body has been found. This time the victim is a beautiful, young student, with the murderer no less ugly in his slaughter. Is every victim innocent, or are some more innocent than others?

Determined to prove herself, Anna uncovers a vital piece of information linking one man to all the killings, a much-loved actor on the brink of stardom. He seems above suspicion and his smouldering good looks attract even Travis - but in getting closer to the truth, is she getting too close to a killer?"
Good storyline - if a bit slow moving at first - and very well acted by everyone involved. It's not for the faint at heart though as some of the scenes and case photos are pretty gruesome. Recommended for fans of cop thrillers with a strong female lead.

Having seen Jason Durr in Heartbeat I wasn't sure of his acting ability. Wow. His 10 minute interview is some of the best televison I have seen. His characterisation is worth the price of the DVD. Simply outstanding.

4.0 out of 5 stars gritty drama
Good gritty tv drama, not for the faint hearted. What spoils it is the girl who plays Anna Travis. Surely they could have found someone better.
