I entirely disagree with the reviewer who calls "About You Now" the Sugababes best ever. In fact, as a long-time devotee of the 'Babes, I worry that this single marks the beginning of the end for one of the world's most unique and cutting-edge pop groups.

The melody is simple and unimaginative, the lyrics inane and predictable, and the production crew seem intent on stripping out the vocal identity of each girl, leaving this song limp and generic (think Steps singing "Mary Had A Little Lamb" .... )

Sadly, the remixes do nothing to improve the matter.

The saving grace? The b-sides! "In Recline" is the Sugababes at their BEST!!! It boasts a rockin' beat (a little reminiscent of "Overload"), bumpin' bass, cheeky lyrics, tight harmony on the chorus .... and more importantly, the song plays to the girls' respective vocal strengths: Amelle growls like a tigress, Heidi purrrrz like a kitten, and Keisha just tears into it. You go girls!

"Rocks" is a cool acoustic cover of the Primal Scream hit from the early 90s, which was recorded for Radio 1's Live Lounge sessions. Well worth a listen, and nice to hear the chorus delivered in harmony ... but admittedly this acoustic cover version the 'ooomph' of the original.

Still, the single is worth the purchase price just for "In Recline". And while you're at it, track down a copy of the "Easy" single too, which features the equally rockin' b-side "Shake It".

If only the girls (or more likely, their record company) would stop relegating their A-grade material to the status of "B-side".

I'll hold my hands up, i think i'm one of the few people who didn't fall completely in love with About You Now. Looking back at some of the awesome, cutting edge tunes the 'babes have come up with in the past like Freak Like Me and Red Dress this just doesn't feel like the best they're capable of.

That said, it is still and amazing pop song and miles better than a lot of the other stuff around in the charts at the moment. It's all budget 80s synths and cutesy charm and obviously the vocals are top notch. In essence, the perfect pure-pop song. It's fast, it's feisty and it's dead catchy.

(The radio edit on this CD single cuts off an extra part in the first verse from the album version - i'm not sure which one i prefer as i'm so used to hearing the edit on the radio)

The b-side is the 'babes live cover version of Primal Scream's classic hit. It's an impressive rendition that keeps all the elements of the original's bluesy feel. Vocals are once again effortlessly good. It's a cool version and i love it!

This is an excellent song from the Sugababes. The kind of instantly catchy, cool, and classy track from the 'Babes that they used to do so effortlessly. Now we have an ex-Eurovision singer who talks about the 'Babes' history as if she was always part of it - just say NO to Jade!!

Anyway, back to the song - it's floaty, funky, Summery - has all the ingredients of a good, fresh pop song. I'd recommend you buy it and sing along!!
