All About Women Short Story Collection, Volume 1 [Kindle Edition]

I love interesting short stories. Reading is sometimes impossible due to my busy lifestyle however; I can manage short stories if they peak my interest as this book did. All three stories were well written, and I thoroughly enjoyed them.

There are three stories in this collection.

Dream Scream: The war that has torn apart her family and her country were bad enough. Never seeing her family, having to scrimp and do without so many things drags a person down. As if all that weren't enough, night after long night, the dream, no actually its a nightmare, keeps coming. She's not sure how its going to end, but the dread that fills her soul keeps rising. When will it all stop?

A Strange Place: Thirteen army wives go out to drown their sorrows on the first night of their husbands' deployment. At the bar, the women notice a news bulletin but quickly go back to drinking and talking about what they will be doing while their husbands are gone. Lucy and Carol-Ann, argue quietly about the bulletin. Thirteen isn't always an unlucky number.

As the Witch Turns: Every watch The Wizard of Oz? I used to wonder why Dorothy never got punished for being bad. I mean, she killed two witches. What about them? Ever wonder what made the wicked witches so bad? And what about that Glenda? Would you be that happy if a house fell out of the sky and killed your sister, even if she was a wicked witch? Payback is a witch, spelled with a b, named Glenda.

I love short stories. And these 3 are great! I especially enjoyed As the Witch Turns. It is very humorous and answered all the questions I had about the characters of The Wizard of Oz movie.

I enjoyed reading these stories. The author displays flashes of Ray Bradbury and Shirley Jackson--both of whom I love. If I had to sum up her work in a single word, it would be Wicked. I am most definitely looking forward to deeper, darker things from Anne.
