Product Description

The secret to happiness is moving out of the mind and learning to delight in each moment. In What About Now, you will find over 150 quotes from Gina Lake's books-Loving in the Moment, Embracing the Now, Radical Happiness, and others-that will inspire and enable you to be more present. These empowering quotes will wake you up out of your ordinary consciousness and help you live with more love, contentment, gratitude, and awe.

Here are some samples:

"Experiencing what you are experiencing and experiencing your thoughts are very different realities. When you are experiencing what you are experiencing, you are at peace, relaxed, content, absorbed, with no thoughts about me or how I am doing, or any other stories, which are the ego's version of reality. Instead of experiencing reality, the ego tells a story about it, and that becomes its reality."

"Watch the mind as it tries, in every moment, to co-opt experience by translating it into a story. It tries to draw you away from experience into a mental world that simulates experience. It tries to draw you into an imagined story about the experience. If it succeeds, that story becomes your experience. If you agree to go to this mental world, feelings will also arise and add reality to this world, but it is still a mental world."

"Surrender happens simply and naturally whenever we stop paying attention to our mind's version of life and start paying attention to life, itself, as it is coming out of the Now. There's something else to do besides think! And that is to notice, to be aware of what is happening now. Notice, look, feel, listen, sense, and give yourself fully to the experience you are having, and you will drop into the Now."

found by chance, lucky I did 8 Jan 2010
By P. Lauer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I found this book by chance searching for books on DBT. Part of DBT is mindfullness-being in the moment. This book is perfect. I bookmarked on my new Kindle about 20 that are relevant for me on a regular basis. I love that they are short (1 Page) excerpts from her other books that can be read in a short period of time, hence almost used as a daily guide. Plan to look into her other books. If you want to quiet the brain and it's negative chatter- then this book is a good place to start.

Full Disclaimer 11 May 2009
By M. Jeffreys - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Full Disclaimer: Gina Lake generously sends out copies of her books to certain people for review, of which I am one. Thus, one might make the assumption that if the reviewer gives the book a glowing review, they are doing so as a way to thank the author for the free book. I want to assure you that that is not the case here.

For example, I am in the Vine program here on Amazon, and thus am offered lots of free books every month or two (the only obligation is you have to review them). I have never said yes to anything they have offered to send me. With 10 spiritual books on my nightstand, I simply don't have time to read all the books I currently have. So, wanting more books just to have them is simply not of interest to me.

And now to one that is: WHAT ABOUT NOW? is a collection of powerful quotes from Gina's many previous books. Think of it as sort of a "greatest hits" collection of spiritual teachings. Here are a few quotes that been highlighted in my copy:

"When you are just present to what you are experiencing, you notice all sorts of sensory details that are usually overlooked... The ego isn't satisfied with these things because it isn't satisfied with anything."

"The ego gives us a false sense of knowing, which is comforting, even though it doesn't really know where life is going or what will happen next. So, all you really have to surrender is the pretense of knowing. The truth is that you don't know what the next moment holds."

How that last sentence "hits" you will tell you a lot about where you are on the "pathless path." Does your spirit celebrate the not knowing that Gina is writing about, or does your ego refuse to even consider letting go of the imaginary "life steering wheel" it likes to think it controls? Only YOU can answer this. If your answer is the former, this gem filled book will help you move even deeper into awakening to your true nature.

Simple everyday reminders 1 May 2011
By Avid Reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Although simple, this book is perfect for a quick reminder to stay present. The book is divided into one page bits of wisdom, reminding us to stay in the moment. I have it on my kindle and pick it up to read a page in those moments when I've become stressed or have forgotten to stay in the now.

Examples of sections include: Enjoy the simple pleasures, Experience your true self in the moment, Love what is or suffer, Choose how to respond to life, Stress is a sign you are believing the mind, Give up the drama.
