All equines are at risk from plant poisoning and many suffer avoidable illness, or even death, every year. This invaluable guide contains for the first time, superb colour photographs which enable the horse owner to identify the most dangerous plants likely to be encountered throughout the year. Concise plant descriptions are given, together with advice on removal and management. A close study of All About Poisonous Plants will help to ensure safe grazing for horses and peace of mind for their owners. It is an essential reference work for owners, riders, students and examination candidates.

This book is extremely useful in showing what the common plants poisonous to horses look like. Unlike illustrated books, the photos give you a really clear idea of what to look for.
A bargain, which should be on every horse owner's bookshelf.
I often buy the Allen guides because they are cheap and nealry always find that they give decent basic information but not the detail I want. I did not find the photos to be clear or useful enough, e.g. cow parsley and hemlock are similar and although the written description explained that the stems were different you could not tell this from the photos. I would prefer a photo of a full plant and then close ups and the book varied in how photos were shown.

This book may be very useful for someone in England or Europe but it's not helpful at all for Colorado, which is where I live. The illustrations are beautiful and very clear, but I've never even heard of these plants. So, if you want something to help with poisonous plants here in the United States, I would choose another book.
