This 2nd album by the all girl group is a major leap forward from LP1. This album is a touch more polished but all the better for it. It has great diversity and variety of pace but the tunes are super catchy and the girls still rock it when they want to. Highly recommended.

First heard one of their songs on an episode of gossip girl and decided to check out the album. I instantly fell in love with their strong female vibe.

This is a difficult band to review. There just isn't much you can say about them beyond their biography and what they sound like.

They are a French girl group garage band. The lead singer has a very sexy voice. They do great gang backing vocals. They also have a knack for pop songwriting.

The band are probably technically very accomplished, but I like to imagine they're stretching the limits of their primitive musicianship and are forever teetering on the brink of falling apart.

After that all I can say is they have recorded a great album that is very consistent (their debut LP1 is also very, very good). All but two and a half songs are in English on this album.

The track by track review system doesn't really work with this band. They are too consistent. Any praise or complaints can be applied to most of the other songs as well. This is my attempt at it anyway:

1. I Could Rob You 3:26 (8 out of 10 stars)
Made up of sections (guitar, gang vocals, quieter bit) in a slightly proggy way.

2. Barcelona 3:21 (8 out of 10 stars)
Great gang vocals. Excellent lyrics. Very pop.

3. Bitch 3:07 (8 out of 10 stars)
Good lyrics. I've always felt this track should have been used by Quentin Tarantino in Inglourious Basterds instead of Cat People (Putting Out Fire) by David Bowie.

4. Camera 2:26 (8 out of 10 stars)
Great vocals and music. In French with a lot of English.

5.

Katty Besnard et al are a breath of fresh air, style vitality and panache. About Love is the second album by the band with the addition of Anaïs Vandevyvere on drums replacing Zazie Tavitian giving the Plastiscines a sense of being a proper 4 piece rock band.

This album sees genuine growth in song writing from the minimal garage rock of LP1 to 12 musically structured songs. The material has a more polished pop sound but has still retained some garage rock sensibilities resulting in a great second album. The single Barcelona is a stand out track and with the video directed by Marvin Scott Jarrett it is a fantastic ambassador for the album.
