I read this in one sitting - grabbed by the story right from the start. The matter-of-fact mentions of 'Abomination', coupled with the effect it's prescence have on Martha, the narrator, lead to chilling ideas and horrible ideas about what the creature could be! Martha's developing relationship with Scott is always slightly overshadowed by suspense - and it was impossible to stop reading wntil I knew the truth! (Perhaps reading it late at night didn't help!)
However, once the nature of Abomination became clear the story lost the pace and I found the ending somewhat anti-climatic. Still, worth a read - enjoyable and full of suspense. I would certainly recommend it as a great children's/teen read.
