The device clips into the chest strap using metal poppers (like you get on baby clothing) and then there is a plastic clip to attach the elasticated strap around your chest. Like all heart rate monitors the contacts in the strap have to be moist for it to conduct properly: you may need to wet it when you first put it on but after than your own perspiration keeps the contact going.

Due to the price of this device I was not overly confident it would work with my Nexus 5 Android phone but I'm pleased to say Endomondo picked it up right away (and as a BT 4 smart/LE device too) and over my first 20km ride it performed flawlessly with apparently no gaps in its sampling, so colour me impressed. It didn't feel any less comfortable than my old ANT+ heartrate monitor despite being a bit more bulky. In fact, this is the only downside I can see with this HRM: it will make a bulge in your jersey as it's not one of those flat, all-in-one types.

Battery it came with is currently working fine. Apparently they'll last a year or so and are cheap and easy to replace.

Edit: battery died after a few months. I've assumed this is because it shipped with a partly depleted battery. It's still running fine with the replacement battery though and I use it for about four or five hours weekly. (March 2015)

Simple, easy to use, and great communication with my iphone 4S through Mapmyride. I cannot really mention anything about accuracy and precision. It produces data, that data is inmedaitely sent to my iphone, and Mapmyride produces nice statistics on the data. Everything, flawlesly. The readings seem ok to me

What a great purchase! I searched around for a suitable heart rate monitor so that I could record during workouts and to share into different apps such as myfitnesspal and wahoofitness. Didnt have to do anything to set it up - just turn bluetooth on your phone and it picks it up. When you puit it on you just lick your finger and wet the side which makes contact with your skin and this triggers the sensors. You dont need to keep doing it as your skin will naturally perspire whilst working out. Overall thumbs up!

I bought this as one of the cheapest heart rate monitors on Amazon. I happily ignored the iPhone tagline - Bluetooth is Bluetooth right? Wrong.

I have a Galaxy Nexus, a flagship phone in its heyday, but now a few years old and getting a bit tired. I tried for a long time to get the monitor to pair with Strava, MapMyRun. It wouldn't even appear in the Bluetooth device list, nor on my Macbook. Turns out that you need support for Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (as it says in the product title). Now while the GNex does indeed have the hardware, nobody has bothered to officially update the operating system to make use of it. In the end I had to install CyanogenMod which does have the drivers included: problem solved. If you're running an older phone, do check whether it has 4.0 support before you buy.

No pairing is required, you simply connect up the sensor, wear it and wait for it to be detected by whatever app you're using.

The monitor will only connect if you're wearing it, or more accurately, if it can detect a pulse. I haven't had any problems with it on dry skin, but some people inevitably will and you can use some saliva or water to improve the connection.

No problems using it with Strava, it recorded throughout the run and seemed to be accurate enough - I could see my rate slow between intervals.

The strap is fine, though the metal clasp flexes a lot and I think it's going to break sooner or later. It sometimes feels like it's going to fall off while I'm running, but it hasn't yet and it's mostly a matter of adjusting the size to fit better.

All in all pretty happy with it, given how cheap it is.

Works great with my Z3! Had a little trouble to start with but having read through other peoples comments and following there instructions I got it working fine. 1: Make sure the transmitter is on the right way round. 2: Make sure you're wearing it before scanning for it. 3: Make sure you've wet the pads on the back of the belt to insure a good connection and you'll be ready to go.

I had a more expensive version by another manufacturer where the popper connection on the chest strap broke. This unit was half the cost and works better, pairs easily with iphone 5. Also, the build quality is better than the more expensive version - result!

Needed HRM to tune my training runs. I had a Galaxy S3 running 4.3 and this Abody HRM worked with MapyMyRun but they charge to use HRM. To get it working with Runkeeper (which is free to use HRM) I had to upgrade my S3 to 4.4.2. There is no official 4.4.2 for the S3 so for those willing to do this I had to change my S3 recovery to Clockwork using Odin and then install Archiport Beta1 rom. It has been running fine for two days, battery life is improved, and I just did a 18km Runkeeper HRM run with it. Great. My friend bought this HRM to use with IOS Runkeeper and it works fine with that too.

This heart rate monitor works fine with a Moto G running Android 4.4.4
I found that you need to connect using the App not via Bluetooth pairing (which just brings up an error)
I use Runkeeper and once I'd put the HRM on, a heart symbol appeared greyed out in Runkeeper. I clicked on this heart symbol and then clicked again on what came up (can't remember what!) and it connected up fine. The free version of Runkeeper shows the current heart rate and also a chart at the end of the workout.
