4.0 out of 5 stars Unusual..., 22 Jun 2006
By Jamie Sleeman "Reader, writer, philosoposophiz... (Hampshire, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
An unusual book, in that it doesn't give hardly any details of what occurred during the experiences. There are vague mentionings of implants and so on, but the detail is very sketchy.

What is focused on are the external symptoms, emotional ramifications and the health problems that Jason Andrews's experiences allegedly caused, and they were my main reason for finding this book something of a watershed.

This case has attracted a lot of criticism aimed at Jason's parents and Jean Ritchie, the co-author of this book. Ritchie, it has to be said, doesn't do an especially credible job of investigation; she is essentially a chronicler. It is unfair for critics to portray Jason as an exploited, manipulated child however. He virtually had to beat his parents into believing his stories were physical truth and not just dreams. It took him years to do it! He was certainly not manipulated into anything. If anything, he had to do it to the people in his family. Since then, with the odd hiccup, his emotional and behavioral problems have improved without stopping. Certainly staggeringly more successful than most other attempts of disturbed people to "externalise" their problems.

At the bottom of it, this book is one that will help other experiencers and make more sense to them than to anyone else. It is not a book for believers in UFO and abduction lore, although they will probably enjoy it as well.

A good first step for people who believe they are experiencers, although for God's sake, don't read it with an unquestioning mind! The subject is a serious one and it merits being treated as such.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary family, Unforgettable book!, 19 Feb 2004
By Martyn Morris (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I first read this book in 2002 and only recently decided to pick it up again. Despite the fact many other UFO/Paranormal books contain within thier texts, characters that are in themselves enigmatic and flambouyent, 'Jean Ritchies' accounts of the Andrews family does not present them at all like that. The 'ordinaryness' of this family (who could be any other British Family) caught up in extraordinary events is truly an unforgettable read. Knowing the Andrews family are out there now, and quite possibly still going through many hardships in thier extraordinary life does somewhat leave you with the impression that the 'after thought' should rightfully be with them and not the claims made within this book. Extraordinary family, unforgettable book.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Eye Opener, 10 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Im 15 years of age and i like Ann come from the Uk, i first had a look @ this book last winter... I got the book for myself and was disturbed by it at first i put it down because the story was to real and i began to believe in it, but in the end i had to finish it, this book was probably the best book i have read this year out of the paranormal genre and in a few months time i will pick it up again to read and try and draw my own conclusion on the account. But i admit i now do believe in alien life and its contact with the people and places with us. If your going to read a book on abduction read this. Luke,Ann if your out there i'll be thinking of you for a long long time.
