Product Description
Despite Henry VIII's Dissolution, there are still hundreds of surviving monastic buildings in Britain, from forlorn fragments to majestic ruins such as Rievaulx, Lindisfarne and Tintern, many of which are in dramatic landscapes. Some cathedrals and abbeys were monastic foundations, and they still display their Romanesque and medieval architecture and masonry. Through text and colour photographs, this book presents a celebration of the monastic heritage of Britain.
