Star Magazine, January 31, 2004

'the pictures... are sumptuous and heartbreaking'

Book Description

Destined for the heights of superstardom, Aaliyah, by the age of 22, had accomplished more than most dream of. Her fairytale, however, was too good to be true, and when her life was tragically cut short in August 2001, Aaliyah was set to become a modern myth. Tim Footman charts the beautiful and multi-talented artists rise from precocious child talent to fully fledged R&B sensation.

Format:Paperback
This book is a wonderful celebration of the short, yet full life of Aaliyah. It travels through her life and progression as a singer and actress, showing us her remarkable talent and exquisite beauty. The author shows us the utter tragedy of her early death and what might have been.

The writing is superb and very evocative, celebrating and yet commiserating at the same time. I came away feeling sadness that she could never realise her full potential and yet full of admiration of her talents.

The photos are absolutely luscious and I love the descriptions of her music. It is clearly written by someone with a real love for the singer and her music.

This book as a whole reflects the utter beauty and great talent of Aaliyah. It is a beautiful memoir for a beautiful star.

This book really captures the history of aaliyah and you find yourself wanting to know more. If you're a person who likes to read you should definately buy this book. The author advertises Aaliyah's persona much better than any other book i've read (e.g. MORE THAN A WOMAN BY CHRISTOPHER JOHN FARLEY)

Review for the "Aaliyah" Biography by Tim Footman By :Tee 6 Aug 2005
By Tee - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Of all three biographies of Aaliyah that are out so far, I must say that this is the best one! Footman's book on Aaliyah's life is not only the first completely illustrated biography on her life to date, But the author was (unlike the other two writers, Farley and Kenyatta), is very detailed about her life and career. It pays tribute to the late entertainer in the loveliest way. Despite what the other reviewers claimed, I was never bored when I read this book. Most of the photographs of Aaliyah in this book are at least "8*10" in size, in full-color, and are very beautiful. They would make either lovely posters, or very nice screensavers,(If you can find these images of her on the internet.) There are also very nice pictures towards the end of the book of the murals on her billboard which promotes her last CD (in either N.Y. OR L.A.) and other murals/tributes that were created by her fans across the country after her passing. Her "Discography" and her short "Flimography" are also included. The author (Footman) at the end of the book puts it best when he simply says: "We may have lost Aaliyah, But at least we still have the music". To put it best, if you plan on buying a book about Aaliyah, This one is DEFINITELY worth buying. (Hopefully, one day, They'll make a movie about Aaliyah's life.) Until then,......WE LOVE YOU AND WE MISS YOU BABYGIRL.....MAY YOU REST IN ETERNAL PEACE!!!!!

AALIYAH.Always remebered 8 Feb 2004
By Laugin Andrey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is just awesome and you sure need to buy it if you're Aaliyah's fan. Well the first reason is that it has many colorful pics which could be used as posters plus it was nice to read the book - there're some borring parts, but in general it's very nice. It also made me really sad in some parts because Liyah isnt alive any more... So if you still have doubts, believe me, that it really worth buying. I was waiting for it more than a month and i'm not dissapointed. Plus the prise is much lower now so dont miss your chance to buy it!
