this is a amazing bit of kit - while a bit pricy - well worth it for travelers , who stay in of the way places and need Wifi access. As a sailor - we often vist placs where there is no wifi - or so it seems untill you plug in your little ooster aerial - frightening to see how many unsecure wifi access points there are .
typically I find it adds "2 bars" to wifi signal.
I know that people dont like carrying extra kit - this is worth it if your heading off the beaten track

Excellent product simple to set-up and reception status went from 2 to 5 bars straight away and is very stable. The adpater is very neat and is about the size of a cigarette packet and sits behind my laptop. Would not hesitate to recommend the Alfa to anyone.

This is definitely the best wifi usb adaptar I've ever used! With this beauty wifi range has increased about 2 or even 3 bars, catching wifi networks far far away from my location.
In addition to that, this usb wifi adapter is 100% compatible with Backtrack or any other Linux distro and if you want, you can easily crack wep keys out-of-the-box (for security purposes, of course).
It's a little bit expensive, I know, but it's money well expended. You won't regret!
