Product Description

Auraglow have finally created an energy saving LED alternative to the standard GU10 50w halogen light bulb.
There are many other LED bulbs on the market all with similar claims however most are exaggerated and certainly do not produce the same quality of light.

This incredible GU10 LED light bulb is only 7w in power but equivalent to a 50w halogen light bulb.
The light it emits is a warm white the same as a halogen produces.

Featuring the very latest in LED technology, Auraglow are so confident in these light bulbs they issue them with a 5 year warranty!

LED lighting is the future and Auraglow are leading the way.

I am a Physicist with an interest in all areas of renewable energy/energy saving. All our lighting is low energy and we have a number of compact fluorescent (CFL)GU10 recessed downlighters, some in fittings which allow the direction of the light to be changed through a few degrees. Just like other reviewers I have been waiting for LED technology to move forward so that they would be a realistic alternative to CFLs and to halogen bulbs (none of which I have, nor would ever have in our home!) This 7W LED has finally achieved what I have been waiting for!

The warm light colour is only slightly "whiter" than my CFLs and its light cone is narrower, making it still akin to a spot light. I have 3 LEDs above my desk/workstation with this one in the middle and two 4W LEDs around a metre to each side in a row. The additional light from the 7W is more than enough to make working at the desk comfortable whereas the 4W LEDs alone would not be enough. This threesome replaced 3 low energy CFL downlighters and the overall effect of the lighting is very similar. The savings I will be making will be mainly from the much longer life of the LEDs rather than from the electricity saved as the CFLs were already very energy efficient.

The 7W is longer than a halogen or a CFL GU10 bulb by around a centimetre. This was not a problem with the fittings above my desk as it could be pushed a little further into the ceiling recess and the wire clip still went into place. Owing to the extra length, however, the angle of tilt of the lamp seems to be a little more limited.

Another reviewer commented on the appearance of the LED when in use and I find it, similarly, attractive! Its design is obviously more for technological reasons, such as heat dispersal, but it does result in a stylish, modern look.

Now the cost of LEDs has come down to "reasonable" levels and their light output and colour equate favourably with other bulbs they have become a viable alternative to both halogen and CFL light sources. This particular Auraglow 7W is well worth a try and I am very happy with it - long may it last!

Good bright replacement for 50w halogen. Noteworthy is the extra length of the bit the "plugs in" - this bulb fits my surface mounted spotlights, where most other LED replacements I've recently tried don't due to extra width of "led" end of bulb without a corresponding increase in the length of the "GU10" end
