I started recently getting into collecting anime action figures. My hime/otome is one of my all time favorite series so I decided 'ooh I need those for my collection'. I bought the arika one (well I bought all 4 of them but this is the review of arika).
The articulation on the figure itself is ALRIGHT. My figma and revoltech figures outshine it in a lot of ways. There really is no neck articulation unless you count from left to right. If you want to move the head up and down that isn't gonna happen. The head does pull off (another of the figures comes with an extra head to put on fyi but not this figure)and most of the joints do seem to come off and back on fairly easily (just don't try pulling the connecting piece out of both of them, it's a pain to get back in). There is no stomach bending motion but you can move it from side to side as well. Hand itself articulation really is sorta non-existant because of the round cuffs that the coral fuku has. You can twist them around though but bending them forward and back won't happen. There is a little bit more foot articulation but again it's limited by the cuffs.
Accessories it comes with two open hands, one holding hand for the staff/rod that it comes with and two fists (That come attached to the figure). Arika's pigtails is also separate and must be put on and a stand with lots of holders and rods so you can make it pose how you really want to (only limited by the articulation of the figure itself). The bow as well in their back is separate and must be placed on but that isn't difficult.
The hands though are a big turn off for me. Honestly the quality of them also varies greatly. What I mean by this is that one of the hands will pop on like a piece of cake, while another it takes all your force to get on and to have it STAY on. I like revoltech's hands better.
Also another thing is that all 3 coral versions of atelier-sai's figures share the EXACT same base (the heads are the only thing that differs) and both Nina and Arika share the same rod/staff thing. So you end up with 6 fists, 6 outstretched pawms, and 3 holding hands that all are exactly the same. I wish Atelier-sai would have put a little more uniqueness in the base of the figures then this but it also means that if one hand is a pain to try and get on you can try another figures hand instead and nobody will known the difference.
The paint is alright overall but it does seem like it'll scratch easily.
If I could I'd give the figure a 3 and 1/2 stars instead of four. Yes it is fun and I already have her posing with Nina but it maybe much more hassle then its worth to some collectors.
