Wrong choice of wireless adapter 5 Feb 2012

This wireless adapter was offered as "Linux compatible". As I had just installed Linux on an old laptop and found that the laptop's PCMCIA port was not recognized by Linux, I decided to try this "Linux compatible" product in the laptop's USB port, in order to give me wireless connectivity. The device arrived, well packed and promptly delivered. It worked with Windows as "plug and play" but was NOT recognized by Linux. Investigating the on-line manual, I then discovered that although Linux operation might have been possible, one had to write both the driver and operating program from scratch, something well beyond the average user. So whilst this product might be technically compatible with Linux, one needed program writing skills in order to exploit it. I returned the product to Amazon and was refunded in full. Later, I purchased an LM Technologies product which WAS compatible and found it worked immediately when the laptop was booted up with the LM device plugged into the USB port.

Great little adaptor! I have this on a base unit and the results are extremely good. Great value, great delivery and even better when you finally got hold of it. Installation is easy.

purchased this for my wdtv live media player...
plugged it in,ran the set up for wireless connection on the wdtv live,just needed to enter my ssid,after that,my network worked str8 away with the media player..it streams films and music flawlessly,although have to say that i have vm 30mb with the new super hub...it streams 720p and 1080p with no trouble wotsoever..and plays any kind of music file (wma-flac-sacd) with no loss of origional quality...
i used the same adapter to connect my px710w artisan printer to my wireless network and set up was a breeze...
i absolutely recommend this adapter for all your wireless needs.......
