RT are very much in the same mould as AC/DC. One Rythm guitar, One slide guitar, bass, drums & vocals. No thrills just good honest Hard Rock/Metal. The songs tend to deal with real life as opposed to AC/DC`s lyrical style. The nearest AC/DC album would be Powerage in terms of general feel of the Tatts albums. There`s some great songs here. "Out Of This Place" "Assault & Battery" "Magnum Maid" "Rock`n`Roll Is King" "Sidewalk Sally" "Suicide City" all good thumping hard felt rockers that`ll have your head bouncing up & down to the beat whilst playing air guitar. It`s a great shame there arn`t any bands like this around anymore [ with the exception of Rhino Bucket ] as this shows how Hard Rock/Metal really should be done. Great stuff Go Buy !

If you like early AC/DC, then you will like this. Most tracks are fairly fast and furious, straightforward rock very much in the AC/DC mould. Angry Anderson certainly helps the inevitable comparison of Rose Tattoo to their more famous countrymen with his Bon Scott-like vocals. Personal favorites on this album are Rock 'n' Roll is King and Chinese Dunkirk for their (slightly) more elaborate guitar work but there aren't any weak tracks here.
For those with a liking for no frills rock music with a good thumping beat to get feet and heads moving should check this one out.

There are insufficient superlatives to apply to this band. For magnificent stripped down RAWK! music carried by the best slide guitar work ever recorded buy this, buy this... BUY THIS! Not just a band but an attitude. Just pretend Angry Anderson, the lead singer, never recorded Jason and Kylies wedding song for Neighbours and this is perfect.

I still love this album after all this time..the only thing i didn't like was the quality of the disk as the sound isn't particularly loud and the cover is rubbish as it's faded anad dull..excellent tracks though and love playing it!!

Great band that few in America are familiar with... 14 Mar 2008
By K. Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I remember buying this on a cassette tape back in the early to mid 80's. I think I caught a video of theirs on MTV late at night one night. I've owned a few of their tapes and lp's. I have to say I never understood why this band didn't get more play time in the USA.

Assault & Battery is probably my favorite Tatt's record all the way through. They are an Austrlian band and at one time them and AC/DC were the two biggest hard rock bands in their country.

I don't know what to say other then it's straight forward rock n roll with balls. Angry Anderson, while small in stature is a great front man that has great visual presence. His voice is raspy and I would say has the same appeal as Bon Scott, who sang origianlly for AC/DC. Pete Wells played slide guitar and he really gave this band a unique sound. I would say that Anderson and Wells were the focal points of this group.

I would recommend this album to anyone that is an early AC/DC fan or is looking to explore some of Rose Tatto's work.
of course it's 5 stars. 10 Feb 2014

Rose Tattoo. Enough said. Dirty rock & roll. Nothing beats Rose Tattoo. They make AC/DC look like child's play. Yep.

The ultimate in simplified blues-hard rock 7 Jan 2010

No real other way to describe these guys than as an awesome down-n-dirty AC/DC clone. Although they have that 70's Bon Scott Let There Be Rock/Powerage era downpat. These guys are probably the only band thats really captured the formula. Every bar band from American to Spokane have tried. From the simplistic but just right drumming, the Cliff Williams trademark chugging basslines, and the kick ass guitar combo, to Angry Anderson's Rod Stewart wail, these guys create some of the best working mans rock you'll never hear. However, in another sense, they are their own band for sure. As an immense AC/DC fan my whole life, these guys sometimes outdo them in my opinion. The moving and grooving title track as well as key fast paced rockers like Magnum Maid, Manzil Madness, and the ferocious Suicide City are true gems if you're into raw bar band inspired rock. Although these guys aren't so simple they're boring or cliched, they make riffs and songs that just work, as in AC/DC. No matter if they're 3 chords. Sidewalk Salley is a kicking blues-derived mid tempo sing-along rocker, and slide guitar is featured on most of the tracks, which is one difference from their more famous countepaarts. Out of their 3 classic albums (Rock And Roll Outlaw sometimes known as just RT, and Scarred For Life) this is my personal fav. This kinda stuff is really hard to pin words on. It's hard rock with a groove, its hard rock done fun, with partying in mind, blues derived riffs, supreme slide work, and a dirty no need for commercialism attitude. Don't dare pass this rock and roll masterpiece by
