Product Description

Product Description

There is no book that we are aware of, either current, or in the pipeline, which matches this book. There are books already available that touch on ASP.NET performance topics, such as Microsoft ASP.NET Step-by-Step Guide. However, the difference with our book is that (1) it is focused exclusively on ASP.NET performance and optimization and (2) it will go much further in depth than any book currently on the market. The current ASP.NET books all focus on how-to, with performance issues tossed in for good measure. Performance Tuning and Optimization for ASP.NET Applications tackles performance issues head on, and makes them the central topic.

From the Author

Provides a practical introduction to Web development with ASP.NET, including underlying technologies such as Visual Basic, Visual C# .NET, andcommon language runtime

This book is extremely easy to read, it gets straight to the point with some good examples. However, it only seems to give an overview, it scratches the surface.

If you know ASP to begin with then the book is fairly quickly read and leaves you with some basics and a lot of unanswered questions.

This book is, as others have said, very well written and a useful starter. However, be warned that it covers the basics - and when I say basics, I really mean it. With hindsight I would buy a different book that has more depth (from Wrox press for example, although I've not read any of the competing titles so I can't really recommend) since now I still need much more info, and hence will have to buy another book.

Very good 26 Feb 2002

Format:Paperback
Highly informative without being verbose. I was pleased to see chapters on configuration and security before the book delved into forms and services.

This is a good introduction, but one most suitable for readers with ASP or other programing experience. Novices might find it covers too much too quickly.
