Product Description
Designed for fast-paced training and racing, the lightweight GEL-DS TRAINER 17 features the Dual Density DuoMax system which provides excellent arch support and cushioning for over-pronators. This edition includes Guidance Line, a flex groove which runs along the entire outsole that encourages a more efficient running gait. Other notable features include the Propulsion Plate located on the outsole of the forefoot, provides excellent stability through the step and encourages forward momentum by helping the foot complete it's cycle effectively. The Wet Grip Rubber outsole is designed to work superbly even in wet weather. By being treated with organic and non-organic components, it enhances traction to offer optimal performance even in the rain. The Discrete Eye-Stay on the upper and the Clutch Collar System, which locks around the heel, combine to create an amazingly comfortable fit.

I've had other Asics and Mizuno trainers in the past, but always cheaper models. This is the first time I have stepped up to this price range for running shoes and I am glad I did. These are great for road use, and seem fine for light trails too. The double-heel system looks strange at first, but it feels so natural to me, fitting snug and supportively without ever feeling tight.
Five stars for now, I just hope that the sole wear and the toe box mesh hold up for a decent number of miles since I cannot afford to replace these too often.
For those that care about shoe weights - I bought these in Men's UK Size 10, and weighed them at 337g each. The Asics DS Racer 9 also in UK Size 10, weighed 245g each.
