Product Description

Review

AS Sociology for AQA provides a welcome adition to the sociological canon. Not only is it well-written, but challenging concepts and issues are explained with clarity, and it is comprehensive in its coverage. It is a book which could be instrumental in encouraging our students to develop more confidence and concentration as readers of books about sociology in addition to improving their achievements in public examinations.

I ordered this book back in 2006 when I was at college studying Sociology and I really wish that there had been a review for this book then! :) It was the main book for the course and we were told that we would need it and it was a really good rescourse for any 'beginner' :) The cover certainly got all of our attention, as does the follow up book for A2 year, A2 Sociology for AQA but I must say that as the months went on, we all soon had other books such as Sociology in Focus for AQA AS Level: Student Book which I strongly reccommend :)

The book can be quite confusing, especially if you are completely new to sociology and you've never heard of any of the sociologicl terms before, that are in the book. I didn't feel confident reading it and found alot of it hard to digest; I really wish I had got a new book straight away as I didn't feel it explained things enough. I don't reccommend this to be used for sole use, definitely invest in a couple of other books to help you learn the subject.

The book is packed with alot of information though and covers everything you need for AS AQA Sociology and as such, I feel that it's better suited as an aide, or supplementary resource rather then as your main learning tool. Once you have developed your knowledge and understanding of the subject, it's useful and easier to understand.

Hope that helps someone else looking to learn the subject :)
