5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy! 3 Nov 2010
By Kirsty
I found this book to be very helpful. I've been studying A levels from home without any tutor support so this book was my only learning tool for sociology. I sat both AS exams in January 2010 and achieved A grades in both of them despite the fact that I left my revision until the last minute! I'm not sure why this book has some bad reviews. I doubt I would have achieved an A without it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not endorsed by me! 15 Oct 2008
I agree with the previous comments by other reviewers. This book contains very dated material and offers very thin coverage of the syllabus in a very dry format. It adds nothing at all to the existing body of AS literature. At a recent conference Robb Webb, the chief examiner for the AQA, said that he doesn't endorse it, and neither does anybody else I know who is high up in the AQA examiner hierarchy. Just because a text book has the AQA logo on does not actually mean the AQA endorses that text. Don't buy this, buy the text by Stephen Moore et al instead!

1.0 out of 5 stars On the grapevine 15 Feb 2009
I understand that Pat McNeill, who is listed as 'consultant' to this book, was so unhappy with the way his comments on the manuscript were ignored by Nelson Thornes that he asked them to take his name off the cover. This was not done. He is not happy.
