Dr. Charles Smith taught economics and related subjects for many years in secondary schools and further education. Since 1994 he has worked at Swansea Metropolitan University (University of Wales), initially in the Business School and more recently in the School of Education where he is Head of Quality and Curriculum.
Charles is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a founding Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. He is one of the most experienced examiners in the country, and was formerly Chief Examinar in Economics for the International Baccalaureate Organisation. He is currently a Principal Examiner in Economics for a major awarding body, and Chair of Business Studies Examiners for another board.
Married with two children and three grand-children, he is Welsh but has both British and Spanish nationality. He likes walking (in both town and country), swimming and cycling, and he plays the trumpet and Irish whistle.
