Damn awesome! 25 Feb 2012
I bought this for a homebuilt PC, as my old DELL was getting a bit slow for games and the like.
I'd read many reviews about this and being able to unlock it to 6 cores, despite it not being necessary for gaming. This turned out to be easy as going into BIOS and changing one setting, thanks to ASUS's very handy Core Unlocker feature on their mobos.
The CPU doesn't go over 33C when doing tasks such as playing music and surfing the web, but peaks at about 39 when playing Skyrim, MineCraft or Metro 2033 with the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Rev 2.

My system now runs great, only slowed by my (not too great) ASUS ATI 6770, but Skyrim plods along happily at 60fps on High settings, which is great!

All in all, a highly recommended product, but get it from eBay, it's about £15 cheaper if you find the right seller!

My friend bought this for his first build, except I supervised him. And ended up taking over. But that's not important right now.
I advised him to buy this processor, why? It's on an outdated socket and only scores similarly to a Phenom x4 955/Intel i3 2100. However, there is a reason. These processors are built as 6 cores and have the extra cores disabled - he managed to get an unlock out of it (and a stable one, at that). If that's not enough, we then got the six cores to 3.6ghz on stock voltage! Sadly however, we couldn't find the voltage in BIOS...

Cooled by a Corsair A70 (which was a personal recommendation from another friend due to good cooling, value for money and easy installation), the temps never went above 38. That's with all cores unlocked at 3.6ghz while running Prime95 for half an hour, so if left on all day at full load I'd expect 45?

Very good processor, I've been genuinely impressed and tempted to buy one over my own Phenom x2 555 (unlocked).

Also, if anybody is wondering what board was used, it was an MSI 880g one. I am not too sure of the model, sadly, but it was fairly cheap.

Have a motherboard that is AM2+ needed a quicker processor so opted for the AMD Phenon 960T x4 model and after updating the bios to accept the AM3 processor it was pretty plain sailing. This for me was a cheaper exercise than buying a new motherboard, memory a new case etc, etc.

I'm sure further down the road I will purchase a new board, but its showing on windows experience 7.3 so have to be pleased, as yet not played on any games but sure it wont disappoint.
