Manufacturer's Description

AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processors put the power of dual-core technology on the desktop. Dual-core processors contain two processing cores, residing on one chip, that perform calculations on two streams of data to increase efficiency and speed while running multiple programs and the new generation of multi-threaded software. For end-users this means a significant increase in response and performance when running multiple applications simultaneously.

Productivity in today's workplace requires smooth, efficient and seamless multi-tasking. AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processors deliver TRUE multi-tasking, allowing users to switch from one program to another without always pausing for the computer to catch up and reducing annoying processing pauses.

Digital media software demands simultaneous processing of data streams, the perfect use for the incredible multi-tasking power of AMD64 dual-core technology. Dual-core technology is like having two processors working together, each one taking care of different applications, so power-users can actually experience greater performance when multiple applications are running. Digital media enthusiasts can usher in the next generation of digital media software for amazing high-definition video and photo editing, content creation, and audio mixing. With an AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processor, your PC can perform up to 80% faster than an AMD Athlon 4000+ processor on the latest power-hungry digital media software applications.

Very Good Value 8 April 2009
This piece of hardware is incredibly good value and is perfect for running windows vista as i have had no problems with running my 64bit version of windows Vista Home Premium, This was one of the most powerful processors i could find for my AM2 socket on my Motherboard, This really is very good value.

Miles ahead of rivals 30 Dec 2007
I wasn't really sure about AMD to start with. I Bought a an athalon 64x2 4500+ processor and that was OK. A bit slow i must say however it ran both windows vista32bit and 64bit with no problem. I then thought of going back to intel when i stumbled upon the 6000+. It was a good buy, Cheaper than intel. The upgrade was no problem. One processor our the other in. I didnt have to reinstall windows or anything. Instant detection by vista..... The only thing i advise is. ... invest in windows 64 bit because 32 bit only handles 3BG ram.... and thats not fair on this marvellous processor.

an old faithfull 13 Mar 2010
I got this processor to upgrade an old 2GHz machine. Although now a bit dated, this cpu fitted my socket AM2 motherboard and thus saved me considerable time and effort - and the cost of a new AM3 mobo.

I didn't have to reinstall Windows, but I needed to update the BIOS (using the Asrock website} so the cpu was properly recognised (this cpu prob didn't exist when the mobo was manufactured !).

When up and running, I tweaked the BIOS to overclock to 3.27GHz and my Windows 7 64 bit pc now runs 50% faster than before.

BTW delivery was swift via signed-for Royal Mail Parcels.
