The AMD 3850 was already an unbelievably excellent performer.I had hoped it could be made to have an unlocked multiplier for easy overclocking. That would be too much to ask but no my prayers have been answered! This is a decent quad core chip with graphics that equalled an Nvidia 430 or ATI 5550. The only downside is you need to get a motherboard as well as it doesnt fit in an AMD3+ board. You could with admittedly a lot of hassle overclock the 3850 to increase performance a little but only to a 3.3 ghz max. Now you can in seconds very simply overclock it to 3.7 GHZ and the GPU will increase from 600mhz to around 950mhz. This is produces 33% increase in framerates. This means you can play Crysis and any game out there at high settings with ease. What that means is you can have a console beating performance from a tiny pc. No graphics card required at all! And the CPU overclock means that it performs better in every benchmark. So for rendering films it is approaching Phenom x4 performance WITH a full fat graphic card performance thrown in. This is the equivalent of a 3895 if such an APU exsisted. I got too many desktops already but for those buying the first PC for their teenagers this is the one to get. Incredible product.

Pro: AMD's tech support is GREAT when you have problems or questions.Con: NOTE: These issues may be motherboard related and not APU related - I don't know - Had trouble running more than one program at a time. When running Alibre (SolidWorks type program), Photoshop, and Adobe PDF reader at the same time using the on board graphics (AMD Radeon HD 6550D) the cursor would "skip" or "Jump" about 0.5" at a time. Almost impossible to point it at any item on the screen. A CNC milling machine simulator that ran just fine on my 7 year old 1.5 Gb, AMD Athlon 64 (1 core) CPU, Abit motherboard with Nvidia graphics card would freeze the system. (yes, it is certified for Win 7 64 bit OS) Amazon shipped me a replacement processor (AMD's tech support suggested trying this) with no change in performance so I assume board is the problem. Add on graphics card would probably fix the problem but that would defeat the reason to have chosen this system combo in the first place. I had selected the low-power (65W) A8-3800 that AMD announced, but isn't producing in quantity sufficient for Amazon to fill my order. When I completed a new workstation build and still hadn't received the processor, I selected the high-power consuming (100 W) A8-3870. I have very happy with the processor and the whole set-up; however, I am disappointed in AMD and their ability to deal with their marketplace in a forth-right business manner. No notice about availability in over 4 months is unacceptable behavior for a worldwide presence.

Not as avid a gamer as I once was. So I can live without having the best vid card and fastest processor out. This is a great value and delivers enough performance to play just about any game with medium to high graphics settings (assuming you are playing 1920x1080). Runs very cool as well. The CPU to buy if you don't feel like breaking the bank on the top of the line CPU/Video Card combo.
