This is the very under-rated AMD Athlon 740 quad core processor. It seems under-rated to me anyway, because I have found only a few reviews for this and no other reviews on Amazon. Obviously, when I bought the CPU I was slightly nervous as to how it would perform but after buying it I consulted CPUbenchmark.com and the site said that this thing (statistically) performs just as well as a Phenom ii x4 965. Obviously, I was chuffed. I then discovered that it actually is the best performing processor with an FM2 socket, this is a CPU not an APU, it does not have graphics, but as a processor it performs really well. I haven't seen it struggle with any game I have tried (and I have a lot of games). I can run all my games in MAX settings too so this little CPU blew me away. I am very happy with this processor and relieved I went for this and not one of the APUs. It does not have L3 cache or locked cores as it is not a black edition CPU but you can overclock this thing. It has a base freq of 3.2Ghz which seems small but on turbo it flies to 3.7Ghz and on my AsRock board equipped with X-Boost it can go all the way to 4Ghz seamlessly. (Though, I would recommend getting a new CPU Cooler, it is an FM2 but all AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+ and FM1 coolers fit so there it lots of choice!) Highly recommended, get one if you want to build a gaming PC on a budget. (Though it will be ultra-quick if you are just suing it as a general desktop PC).
