NECAs Aliens series 1 is an impressive set of figures.
Consisting Of Hicks, a brand new Alien figure and this Hudson figure, its a solid set.
The articulation is plentiful, something all new NECA figures have in common thankfully.
His outfit is nicely painted and the detail is excellent from his wristband to his unique markings on his armour.
The accessories are plentiful and accurate - a pulse rifle, a mounted flashlight and a motion tracker - which even has a sticker on its display screen to show approaching xenomorphs.
What lets this figure down is the paint. His skin is far too tanned - the same goes for Hicks.
The head-sculpt is interesting - they went for his panicky 'Game over man' look and whilst the character is recognizable, the paint badly lets it down. The teeth are poorly painted, the hairline is scruffy and his eyes are messy. Nearly every one of this figure I have seen appears kind of cross-eyed.
Also, alot of fans will miss the helmet which is worn most of the time during the film, you will have to wait for the 2-pack coming later in the year for a new head with a (non removable) helmet.
A mostly great figure, but let down by a bit of sloppiness.

I have yetvto purchase these new figures but i have seen them in the flesh in stores and been very tempred to purchase. As tge last few reviews have stated, the paint apps alone can sell these wonderful figures, the quality of finish, accessories and fantastic articulation are just bonuses.
As already mentioned, the facial sculps are excellent but the paint apps there really do need looking at, or even repaint them yourselves. Hudsons eyes do seem a little crossed, and Hicks has a tan. But don`t let that put you off, these are really excellent casts. Just hope we get a full platoon in the future!

The one thing I really like about this is his facial expression, that infamous scene where he is losing it and you can see the lines in his furrows, well this is exactly that moment, you can't look at this and not shout 'Game over man, game over!'. Again, can't comment on how it poses as it won't be removed from the box, but the motion tracker and pulse rifle look fairly easy to apply to get the special scene moment.

Along with the Hicks figure, who wouldn't want a figure of the best character from Aliens, Private William Hudson? This NECA 7" collectible figure of Hudson has all the same articulation as the Hicks figure, and comes with the M41A pulse rifle with shoulder strap, and the shoulder mounted lamp that fixes to the back of the armour. The sculpt of Bill Paxton grimacing is pretty spot on, and is taken I suspect from the sequence in the movie right after the marines first escape the nest, because he has the plastered down, sweaty hairstyle from that scene. You can almost hear the figure wanting to say "Maybe you ain't been keeping up on current events but we just got our asses kicked pal!" The only downside is that this figure should really have come with the helmet, as Hudson does tend to keep it on for most of the movie, and would have really made this something special. I believe there is a helmeted variation coming soon though. No real complaints from me though, it's awesome.
