I did an enormous amount of research before buying these (or any expensive Headphones) so i think i have quite a good view on these. for instance i have tried, Denon NC, Beats studio, Bose NC.

On the plus side, they are very nice to look at, seem very sturdy and well made. They look good on the ears and not to 'stand out' like others. The sound is excellent - not tiny, or base led. Just very solid and enjoyable. They are very comfortable, and do not in any way get hot. I fly 2 times a week (commute) and so need the NC for the plane. It works very well indeed - much better than the Bose equivalent. for a traveller note that they are not 'deep' meaning that when your head is on an airplane headrest any lateral movement will not knock them off - like they did with my beats studios. A real bonus is the fact they they are chargeable via usb (inc PC's). so no need to carry around batteries. They also work if the power fails - which most others don't. A very good design point.

The not so good - the cable is fabric style - it rubs a little on collars so can make a noise sometimes....a small point but i have tried to look for a new cable.

My last point - mine broke - on the twisty / fold up bit last week. I have just had them replaced by amazon (who were great as always) under the guarantee. But do be careful with them - i think with any 'joint' when folding it can take too much pressure. The soft travel bag is fine, but i do now wish it was a harder case also. I do recommend these and i bought them at £199. Now they are £149 i would say better than bose in quality, functionality, and sound + price.

Overall, these headphones are excellent - fantastic, well balanced sound. I owned the baby brother of these headphones (AKG K480) and the improvement is vast.

The noise cancelling, again, is very good - I've tried Bose QC15 and they do outperform the AKGs (not by much) - but at the price point the AKGs are excellent value in comparison.

I use these for at least 4/5 hours a day and I find them very comfortable, too. All good.

Just to counter a few criticisms I have seen in other reviews. Firstly... Sound Leakage. At medium to high volume, of course there will be soung leakage, they are open backed headphones. Secondly I have seen some people have commented on the new cable design (its not a rubber material anymore, its now a nylon type cable). As I mentioned above, I had the old headphones that did have the old, rubber cable - and I had to replace it twice over a couple of years because the rubber split. This is obviously what they were addressing with the new design which is something I appreciate. It does rub a bit, which can be heard in the headphones, if you leave it hanging loose. But it can be prevented if you just tuck the cable into your pocket to stop it swinging about! The pro definitely outweighs the con in this instance.

So, I do have two criticisms of these headphones which is why it is only a 4 star rating.

First of all the 'premium carry pouch' which comes with these headphones is kind of pathetic. You would have thought with a bit of kit worth £250 RRP (ok, so I paid around £140, but still) they would supply something which would offer a little bit of protection to the product.

I did some intensive searching on products and reviews for a couple of months before I had made my mind to select this headphones.
The aim was to move from some old In-Ear JVC NC headphones to something that could make me enjoy more my travelling
I've test those against the Bose QC3 and i, believe that the overall sound quality is very similar and I didn't fell any difference in the NC feature , both are excellent headphones.
Still the decision to buy the AGK was no brainer for me.
    Better in AGK
    1.USB Charger
    2.Lower Price
3.You can continue to listen great sound quality even with the battery discharged.
4.Design is beautiful and it's well finished

What i found better in the Bose.
1.Headphones case , the AGK is quite modest
2.Headphone Cable , i prefer the Bose design.
    Recommended.

Review less than two years from 5 stars to 2 stars

Less that two years usage and i,ve experiment the poor build quality of this headphone , watch up for the regular business travel as the transportation case is somethink cheap and soft not enought to protect delicate gear , my right hearing support is broken but i notice how fragile it,s the small plastic connection that support the speaker " a design disgrace " i love the sound of this headphones but i have no alternative than to send them now trash bin they are useless and cannot be repaired , AGK please learn to make thinks better i will go for the BoseQ15 now.

I tried a few different sets of headphones before settling on these for the overall range of sound - not too much bass but a robust sound overall.

I was very happy with them at first, the noise cancelling was a god send on the morning and evening train commute and was very effective in to office too. As I have said the quality of the sound was very good and I was a happy soul. However, after about 7 - 8 months the folding mechanism snapped on 1 side, meaning they were basically unusable (they worked but were incredibly uncomfortable to wear).

I spoke to AKG about this and was simply told that I must have done something as they haven't had any reports of them breaking from anyone else. Well, take a look at some of the reviews of these and the K495 headphones. I would be quite surprised if they hadn't heard of this beforehand!

I seems to me that whilst the sound performance is fantastic (both quality and NC) the build and service they offer is not ready for the consumer market. I've replaced mine with the Sennheiser Momentum - great sound quality, less moving parts and feel more solid (although I have sacrificed the NC feature)
