I use headphones quite a lot, but I don't like paying big bucks for them. My best set, which I use for tracking and mixing in what I laughingly call my home studio, is a Sony pair that cost about £60. In my view, only a professional or a very serious amateur should spend £200+ on a pair of studio cans, and only a fashion victim would spend that on headphones for listening to MP3s (pffft!). So that's the perspective I'm coming from: an informed consumer, but by no means a connoisseur.
Anyway, that said, these are terrific headphones for the price I paid (£23). I find them comfortable to wear and very pleasant to listen to. In what I presume is a concession to current fashions, there is a slight bass emphasis, so I can't say the frequency response is flat. But the overall sound is nice and clear and I didn't notice any significant loss of volume. In summary, I wouldn't use these for mixing/mastering, but if you're looking for an inexpensive pair of headphones for general use, or even for monitoring, I warmly recommend the K44s.
