I have used these microphones both at home for recording ideas and demos as well as in studios and it is quite simply an essential microphone. The microphone is adjustable and versatile and will work equally well recording vocals, accoustic guitar, drums and piano. The ability to use a battery where phantom power is not available (or of a poor quality) means that this microphone will save your bacon time after time. Be warned, this is an extremely sensitive microphone however the option to change the polar pattern of the microphone does allow it to be used in less than ideal environments.

There's not really a lot that I can say beyond the review title... I have used the C1000S since I got my first one in 2005 and I love it to pieces. In fact, my first C1000S is still going strong and regularaly gigs without a hitch.

Whether you are capturing vocals or instrumentation on stage or in a studio, you will love the C1000S. Whilst it doesn;t give the same range as a large diaphragm condensor, such as the AKG C414 (which is my perfect studio mic), the C1000S gives you the best of both worlds; a mic you can tour with and a mic you can use in the studio.

With the addition of the included bolt-ons, you can convert from cartiod to hyper-cartiod (great for stage use when you have a lot of monitors) and still pick up every little nuance to the sound.

Do yourself a favour, ditch the dynamic SM58 and spend a few quid on one of these, your voice and/or instrument will love you for it!

Oh, did I mention that you can also slide a 9v battery in it? Very useful if you're doing mobile desk stuff where you don't have 48v - it hasn;t happened to me often but it has happened and this mic has been a life-saver.

This microphone is a classic, and is ideal for amplifying a range of acoustic instruments having a good cone of pick-up. It has stood the test of time and is widely-used. My last one packed in after 10 years. It can be prone to feeding back due to its sensitivity, so make sure it is behind and facing away from the speakers - and be careful with monitors. One long-standing niggle with this is a fiddly on-off switch that is very hard to operate and no light to tell whether the mic is on or off in low light.
